Saturday morning I did my usual shopping at Trader Joe's. Now that life partner is on a diet, food bill is considerably less, proof positive that empty calories are full of money sucking abilities.

Next, the laundry. How the heck do I keep getting two loads of laundry each week? Must be the fact that I keep wanting to wear clean clothes each day. Seems rather pointless, wash, wear, rinse, repeat, but I keep doing it.

In the afternoon I went to tea. We had high tea at the home of one of our Emerson family. I love spending time with them. Conversation ranges from the silly to the mundane, from the political to the ethics of daily living. We catch up on each other's news since we last talked, see old friends and generally have a wonderful time.

I name them my family, because that's how we see each other. There's an old saying, "I love my friends; may heaven protect me from my relatives." Some truth to it.

Eeek! Calliope just brought me another "gift" to be disposed of immediately.
