Beautiful Day

Sunny but temperatures were moderate--high of 78. Absolutely the quintessence of great weather. I spent most of the midday hours outside weeding, watering and just pottering around. I potter quite well, thank you. One of my Little Old Lady skills that I've been practicing.

All the tomatoes are dead, dried up and pulled out of the garden (SO didn't water them while I was away and they never really recovered) EXCEPT for the heirloom tomato. It survived the drought and has put out new growth and even a couple of tomatoes, just the right size to make a mouthful each.

The cats were most helpful, twining around my legs and commenting loudly on my lack of prowess in the feline feeding department. I tried to convince them that feeding hours are 5 a.m. and 5 p.m. as is the usual on weekdays, but they were having none of it and continued to demand their due. SO gave in and fed them to shut them up (the neighbors have complained) and no amount of protesting about reinforcement of unwanted behavior on my part was going to dissuade him.

And he's the one with the Ph.D.

I'm going camping in the Angeles National Forest next weekend, so in the process of doing laundry and putting it away today I tossed a few things into my carryon bag to get the packing started--preparation for a trip is part of the fun. A weekend is so easy compared to two weeks!

Now there's a little time to read and then to bed. Good night, y'all.
