I never lose socks. I safety pin them together when I take them off, before I toss them in the laundry hamper.

When I put them on in the morning, I put the pin in the top of the sock. Good for emergency repairs, too.

Only once was it a problem. I hurt my leg badly, and they x-rayed it while I was still wearing my socks. The technician didn't notice the pin until afterward, when he looked at the film.

Maybe my right leg bone has the burnt-in imprint of a tiny safety pin, preserved for the ages?
