Bringing in the Tree

One cat is a huntress, appropriately named Artemis (Misty for short). She brings home live squirrels, stunned lizards, dead birds, mutilated mice. She scatters feathers and mouse heads and squirrel fur everywhere. She announces her kill and trophy with a loud growly sound, usually because her mouth is full.

The other cat is more of a show girl, named Calliope (Callie for short). She brings in leaves from the pear tree as her trophies. She announces her arrival much the way Misty does, with that throaty growl, and drops her leaf on the floor for me.

I wake up in the morning to a trail of leaves leading from the cat door to the bedroom. Each leaf has two puncture marks; all are fairly evenly spaced from each other.

Bringing home the tree, one leaf at a time. Very proud of herself.

Both are now waiting, each perched in her spot, for treats from the treat jar. Good kitty!
