Doesn't Get Easier

Saying good-bye is one of those things that doesn't get any easier with practice. Lots of good-byes were said, and many good lucks were wished today, as employees who were laid off cleared out their desks, gave away their desk knickknacks, and drove away.

This was not just one or two employees; the building emptied out and there are just three of us left on our floor. I understand one position will be filled some time soon by a longtime employee who is being unwillingly relocated.

Most people seem to have, on their last day, unfinished conversations that need to be completed. It was all right to leave things unsaid when leisurely days ahead gave permission to postpone; but last days seek closures.

So, lots of talk today. Lots of feelings.
