New Year's Day
Previous Entry :: Next Entry

New Year's Day 2011 dawned bright and beautiful--and cold. It went down to 4 degrees below freezing last night. I turn the heater down at night--warm blankets and a cat suffice--but it came on, anyway.

A couple of months ago I removed all tomato plants from the garden except two, one a cherry tomato and one a regular tomato. They were surviving all right, until last night. This morning they look quite a bit worse and may be headed for the compost heap.

I suspect yard work is out of the question, at least until midday. And after last night's parties (on both sides of me) the neighborhood is very quiet this morning.

Yesterday I did a lot of cleaning up and tossing out. Filled both trash barrel and recycle bin. So today, I believe, I have earned a day of rest. Just a bit of this and that--I'm too active to sit still for long--now and then, but most of the day will be in the company of a good book, I hope.

Take care and be well. Happy New Year!
