It Might Be a Poltergeist

It might be a poltergeist, or it might be a cat who's very clever about opening cupboard doors. It's eerie to go into the hall and find every door to the linen shelves and storage area opened (they close with simple clasp latches or have no latch at all).

It's probably not I who leave the doors open, because I am a consistent door-closer and -locker. Just ask my housemate, who has been inadvertently locked out more than once when she's gone into the back yard to garden, only to return and find that I have once more, out of habit, locked the screen door.

Occasionally I have found one or both outside doors unlocked when I get up in the morning to feed the outdoor cat. It bothers me when doors are ajar and drawers left open. It just doesn't feel right. And leaving front or back door unlocked is not safe, though we live in a low crime neighborhood, supposedly. As if.

Must be a poltergeist. A cat couldn't be that dexterous, could she?
