Again With the Warm Weather

Tomatoes, spinach and peas are all stunted somewhat due to the vagaries of the weather. When it was unseasonably warm, everything sprouted and flourished.

Then it got cold and wintery again. Growth stopped in its tracks and the plants were in shock.

It's windy and clear today, which presages warmer weather (compressional heating). I don't know if the garden will truly recover, or if I will have a bonsai garden this year, with small leaves and tiny fruit.

What a strange year for growing things. I wonder how people who make their living by farming know when to plant and how to manage in this on-again, off-again weather?

The Farmer's Market on Saturday had nice tomatoes, but I noticed the little stickers said "hot house" or "hydroponically grown". The beets and carrots and chard were OK, the citrus was pitiful, and there wasn't much else.

Well, time for me to go finish up the tax papers to present to the accountant on Wednesday. I've procrastinated long enough.

Laterz.
