Day Trip

Nothing I enjoy more than a trip somewhere. Travel, even if it's work related, seems to be just the ticket. Could be a quick trip to a park; a day trip to Santa Barbara; a weekend in Phoenix; a week (or two) in Europe.

Travel. All good, all the time.

Today's trip was to Descanso Gardens. We had a good time walking around the Japanese Garden and Tea House. The tram ride was fun and the Boddy House is finally completed and open for visitors. (Closed last year for renovations). The vertical garden was amazing.

Every summer there are evening jazz concerts and I may look into them, too. Descanso Gardens isn't too far away for a pleasant evening's entertainment.

California oaks, camellias (originally from South Asia), lilies (from South Africa) all living--even flourishing--together in an unexpected synergy. The tulips were incredible, at their peak.

I bought a book, Carrots love Tomatoes (or is it the other way around?) to replace the one lost so many years ago, in my peregrinations from place to place. It's full of all kinds of nifty things about vegetables, starting with plants that grow well together, the insects that enhance their growth, and other interesting facts about intensive gardening and sharing the space with birds and other creatures.

After dinner, it's off to watch "Food, Inc." this evening. Not a pleasant movie, but an informative one.

Such a social butterfly I've become! And if travel is involved, all the better.
