Everything Old is New Again

Finally bought an HD TV. The old set, bought 20 years ago, gave up the ghost in a big way. Smoke, noxious fumes, much frenzied activity to unplug it and drag it outside. Whew! What a stink!

I don't watch TV but once in a blue moon, but my housemate watches it regularly in her apartment.

When I didn't have it easily available, I didn't miss it at all, finding that I preferred to read in the evenings. Then we had cable installed, and I have a new 42-inch humongous screen (dominates the living room); I was mesmerized by something as mundane as the weather report.

Next, I clicked the index of upcoming programs, most of which were titles of things I have never watched, plus a few old favorites like NCIS. And movies! I may have to be very strict with myself and limit viewing to excellent stuff (excludes NCIS).

And our PBS station...I had forgotten how much good programming there is on our local PBS station.

I'm a goner, for sure.

P.S. What programs would you recommend?
I'm curious about what's good out there.
