No, my dear friend, I'm not talking about the weather, with the temperature "cooling off" today to about 103 degrees.

I'm talking about Starbuck's free wi-fi connection. Here I sit, with OPAC, enjoying the music (Good Vibrations, California Dreamin', American Pie), body temperature gradually dropping to normal, and computer connecting to the World Wide Web.

It was almost ridiculously easy to connect, using the wi-fi att hotspot. No, I'm not going to access financial data, nor anything else of a sensitive nature, but will check email and write my journal entry and maybe surf a bit.

C'mon in, the (virtual) water's fine. It will be interesting to see if my email or this journal gets hacked. I suspect not, since a LOT of people use these hotspots. Some of them are day traders (I can hear their conversations), and I assume they have massive personal firewalls.

Oh, yes, and my faithful red-eye by my side. What more could a person ask?
