Here in Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Unified School District, in its infinite wisdom (all bow down to the east) has decreed that school shall start on Tuesday, August 14th.

There are approximately 750 schools in Los Angeles, serving approximately 700,000 students. On Tuesday next, every classroom will switch on lights and air conditioning.

I predict a severe strain on the electrical grid. I was going to say a crash, but hoping not to be a Cassandra, I'll predict a brownout instead.
