This is the First of September, Right?

I ask because it certainly was cool, downright chilly, this morning on my walk. I wear loose, featherweight jeans (washed so often they're practically translucent), and a lightweight oversized tee. And sandals.

It wasn't a question of being cold. The temperature--mid 50's--wasn't low enough for that. So core temps weren't affected, especially when walking, but the peripherals--toes and fingers--were feeling it. I hate it when my nose runs from the cold. Feet are never cold unless there's snow on the ground.

The birds, too, were sleepier than usual. Instead of the usual raucous greetings from the crows and the mockingbird's chatter, all I heard was incoherent mumbles. "Don't wake me up; don't bother me." OK, I was just walking by; see me not bothering you.

There's nothing like cool weather to make that first cup of coffee after my walk a visceral pleasure. AAAaaaaa!
