I guess it's open season on mice. The last two nights the cat has brought in live mice and then released them to chase them around. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. Bang, thump. squeak, squeak, squeak Silence. Fall back to sleep just in time for the repeat.

She probably found a nest and is catching the unwary juveniles.
