Tomatoes

The tomatoes are growing nicely, especially the one plant in a large container. I'd love to know what variety it is. The little tag that came with it says, "Container Tomato". Why thank you so much. How do I buy another? I imagine that if I go into my Green Thumb and ask for a container tomato, I won't get the same thing.

Anyway, for now, it's lovely to enjoy a magnificent plant that is so happy and productive. The heat (it's in the 90's during the day) doesn't seem to bother it much. The other tomatoes, though, are doing what they do every year--blossom drop in the heat, though fruits that have already set are fine.

If these container tomatoes have a nice flavor, I'll save the seeds and see if I can propagate them on my own. I've heard that some hybrids have been developed with sterile seeds so that the would-be gardener is forced to buy from the nursery. Bah, humbug! Probably dreamt up by Monsanto.

Time to get dressed and over to the VA before it gets too hot to breathe. See ya later, container tomater!
