courir dans les tournesols

Bonjour! Je m'appelle Mechaieh. This is where I dork around about pop songs, slang, and other diversions. I'm neither particularly functional nor fluent in French, other than owning a decent dictionary, so suggestions, corrections, and amplifications are most welcome.

The title means "Running Around in the Sunflowers" (song by Marc Lavoine).

Jean-Jacques Goldman, CHANSON POUR LES PIEDS

Copy of the review I just posted at Amazon. I'll be writing more about this later.

Gorgeous package - metal case and thick lyrics booklet, with each song hand-lettered and illustrated in watercolour. I became interested in this album after seeing the video for "Les Choses" and a concert clip of "Et l'on n'y peut rien" on YouTube (stepdancing, mon Dieu!), and it's going to be on heavy rotation on my stereo for the foreseeable future. Goldman is so incredibly versatile - there's romance and mystery here ("Tournent les violons")...and then there's "C'est pas vrai" ("It's not true"), a disco anthem that's simultaneously deeply cynical and infectiously happy. The man is a genius.
