Returned Sunday night from a trip to Dallas, where we were part of a very successful auction that included vintage posters as well as movie posters. The sale, in total, added up to over $1 million. The first poster sale that we know of to do so. We were also asked to assemble another vintage poster sale for Heritage Galleries. If any of you know of any caches of old posters, please let us know.

Then it was on to Los Angeles, where the first apartment we saw was a out of our price range but at 2900 sq feet, it was certainly big enough for 3 adults, a dog and a cat. However, we lost it becauase we wanted more than one year's lease. Sometimes things work out for the best however. Just as I was about to give up from depression and exhaustion, we found a smaller, less expensive place, that would do. It was in a more accessible neighborhood and with very reasonable landlords. Wood burning fireplace in the living room, dining room that Rudy and I will use for an office, three bedrooms, one of which Regina will use for an office, and 2 baths. And best of all, it is one block south of Beverly Hills, in the old Jewish neighborhood of LA, with THREE bakeries within walking distance. I can see the 60-odd pounds I lost last year chasing me.

I am becoming more resigned to our move from the East coast. After the winter we had, the weather in LA was welcome. I can picture myself sitting on the patio with a cup of coffee and a book in the morning. Now for the mundane task of packing, getting new phone, cable service, etc.

Speaking of the mundane, the drawing at http://www.reviewingtheevidence.com for a copy of DETOUR ends on Thursday. (or Friday) Remember to send in your entry if you haven't already and to tell your friends and listmates all about it.

The antiques roadshow will be taping in Providence, Tampa, Houston, Bismarck and Los Angeles. Hope some of you have requested tickets. Let me know if you will be at any of the venues. We can at least greet each other.

We really must get Shaz to tell us about what is doing on the other side of the pond. She really leads a much more interesting life than do I.

Until next time
