sjrozan I'm a writer, at work on my 11th book. This blog is a record of random and less-random thoughts. If you want to know more about me, check my website, linked here. I also had a blog going from spring through late fall 2004 about the publishing process for my 9th book, ABSENT FRIENDS. That blog's called "Progress" and you can find the link here. I won't make any more entries but I'm leaving it up in case anyone's interested; the process is more or less the same from book to book. |

2004-04-20 9:27 AM Daffodil triangle Two of the gardens near me are on a triangular traffic island with a sidewalk between them. They have different gardeners. (NYC has a program where citizens can apply to garden in parks and on traffic islands.) The one who does the south garden changes the plantings every year and this year the early spring bulbs are all daffodils of varying types. Pale yellow with dark yellow centers, white with orange, tiny white ones with yellow. Some are frilly and some flat and plain. The earliest bloomers are closest to the sidewalk, and I don't know if the gardener planned it quite like this, but every day when I go by another few feet of flowers deeper into the garden have unfurled. Finally today the ones in the triangle's rear tip are open. It's like a slow-motion wave changing shades of yellow as it rolls.
