me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Valentine's day heart attack

Well, Cheney's shootin' buddy is back in intensive care because he had a "mild, asymptomatic" heart attack. Because a pellet or two from the Vice President's shotgun migrated into his heart. This is a 78-year-old man with a shotgun pellet IN HIS HEART. Will Cheney see any legal trouble from this? Beyond the fine for not having the right license? Who am I kidding? This wasn't a bunch of homeboys whooping it up in the GHET-to, after all; I mean, that scary urban stuff. It was a group of mature public figures, taking a break from the hard work of governing and practicing law. They deserve a little R&R. Their responsibilities are heavy, ladies and gents, and they have hard decisions to make every day. Like, over there -- is that a full-grown man in an orange vest, or a brown bird slightly smaller than a chicken?
