me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Snow and cherry blossoms

I'm on a hot deadline and shouldn't stop, but this is too fabulous. Despite the little sun in the Manhattan weather box on AOL, it's snowing here. Great big flakes from a silver sky are swirling slowly past the pale pink cherry blossoms outside my window. A willow covered with tiny yellow-green leaves droops behind the cherry. The bark of the maple tree is black with damp, and single drops of water hang off its branches. A bare, red-armed shrub is waving like seaweed in front of a slate wall. And here comes a black squirrel stopping and starting along the wooden fence. Any minute now this will be just rain, and I'll go back to my editing. But wow.
