sjrozan I'm a writer, at work on my 11th book. This blog is a record of random and less-random thoughts. If you want to know more about me, check my website, linked here. I also had a blog going from spring through late fall 2004 about the publishing process for my 9th book, ABSENT FRIENDS. That blog's called "Progress" and you can find the link here. I won't make any more entries but I'm leaving it up in case anyone's interested; the process is more or less the same from book to book. |

2006-04-18 9:51 AM Stripes Some mornings, certain colors stand out on the river because of the angle of the sun, the height of the clouds, or fog, or rain. Today it wasn't a color, though, it was a pattern: stripes. The red-and-white lighthouse at the marina in Jersey City positively glowed. (A marina in Jersey City? How times change!) Matte aluminum panels on the Chase building alternated with black windows; recessed green glass in green frames set off pale concrete in the four towers near it. Two blue-hulled, white-cabined ferries passed each other, one with a single strip of black windows and the other with a line of square ones. On the roadway across the river, cars and trucks caught a gleam of sun here and there. The railing in front of me cut the view into layers. And two Brant geese swam by, showing off the white stripes around their necks.
