me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

So much to talk about

There are so many things going on! There's the President's bright new ideas, there's the Atlantic Yards, on which I promised you a rant; and of course, there's Jason Kidd's divorce.

But seeing as how this is my blog, first I'm going to report on the launch party for my new book. It was great! So many people, and lots of them surprises. Laura Lippman came all the way the hell from Baltimore. My friend Mike came from Delaware, and David from Texas. And Marion Ettlinger, who did my author photo. Authors were there like crazy: Keith Snyder, Tom Savage, Joseph Wallace, Reed Coleman, Irene Marcuse, Peter Speigelman, Peter Blauner, Ellen Pall, Bill Chambers, Ken Isaacson, Robert J. Hughes, Patricia Chao, Gabriel Cohen, Steven Torres, Tom Adcock, Sarah Weinman, Paula Matter, Peter Micheels, Jonathan Santlofer, and I'm not giving you their links because you can find them pretty easily and the more chances I have to type in code the more likely I am to screw it up. These links, though, you need: Partners and Crime, the bookstore the party was held in. You need that so you can go quick like a bunny and buy the book! And this one: Wimp's Bakery Cafe, which supplied the red velvet cake, the pecan pie, the coconut pineapple cake, and the peach cobbler. My sister supplied the brownies the way my mother always used to. She mailed them up from Philadelphia. Folks were there I play basketball with (where did you guys go afterwards?) and some of my Associates from October at ACA. (Nevertoolate b'ball and ACA links above, I can't do it anymore.) It was truly a blast. I read, we talked -- I love this kind of thing because people ask questions I'd never consciously considered, and it makes me really have to think about my process -- and I signed. Then we went to the bar next door and drank Guinness. So, another book launched.

And now, back to work.
