me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Fifth Saturday, from Seattle, four days late*

Strange city sunrise.
Stripes of white, steel, ice, pink, gold --
Same colors as home.

Seagull swoops, circling,
Rising, showing off his tricks,
Ten floors below me.

View from my window:
Buildings, chaos -- age, height, style.
Mountains, orderly.

*And why so late? Wrote them in Seattle Saturday, lost them, was trying to decide whether it's in the spirit of the thing to reconstruct them, and found them again. Moral: having an orderly packing system is dangerous if you don't have an orderly mind.
