me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Don't mind dyin'

My doctor's been giving me a hard time about my recently-elevated blood pressure and cholesterol. Seeing as how I play basketball, run, and only eat brown rice and seaweed, I resent this very much. At the same time, I'm in PT for an ankle problem. So I emailed my sister to complain that I don't mind the idea of dying, it's the falling apart I object to. I got this answer:

"...don't think of it as falling apart, think of it as your body rearranging what you have. Up until now your body was arranged one way, and now it is re-organizing. Mine has re-organized into a fat person with low blood pressure, you got to be a skinny person with high blood pressure. Go figure."

I whine, I get philosophy in return. Hmm.
