me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

The contest's here!

Okay, you guys. We have some advance reading copies (ARCs for those of you who like acronyms) of ON THE LINE to give away, and here's the plan. As you no doubt know by now, ON THE LINE's a thriller -- a new form for me -- in which Bill Smith has to race all over New York trying to find Lydia Chin before a kidnapper's deadline runs out. Since I spend a lot of time racing all over New York myself, I'm going to post photos I took in various places, starting today. The question is, where was the photo taken and what's it of? Signed ARCs and signed I HEART NY tee shirts will go to the best answers. The best doesn't necessarily mean the most right. Especially coming from you guys. So, go ahead. But wait! Don't send your answers as comments here! You can't comment on the contest blog posts. Can't, as in, it's impossible. Send your answers to

ONTHELINEarc@aol.com

Don't worry, I'll post them at the end, winners and non-winners alike, so you can all see how smart you all are. One more thing: the winners have to promise, solemnly swear, to review the book online -- Amazon.com and B&N.com, and whatever other venue you can find -- by Oct. 5. First week reviews, very important in quality and quantity. Can you do it? Then here goes. Photo the first:
