me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Speaking of human rights

Which is what the Occupy movement comes down to, isn't it? Youse may remember my cross-promo with Amnesty International, where I make a donation to AI for each copy of GHOST HERO sold in Sept. and Oct. The promo's ended now, and a big thank you to everyone who bought a book, especially to everyone who told me they bought the book when they did to get in on the offer. I don't have the numbers yet -- won't for months, that's how publishing works, which is another story -- but when I do I'll write the check.

Meanwhile, there's another way writing and human rights mix: Amnesty International's Write for Rights campaign. In December, you write a letter -- or a dozen -- in support of a jailed activist -- or a dozen. Go to the link, sign up, and you'll get instructions. Write as few as one or as many as you like. It's easy and you could be saving someone's life. How often does that chance come along?
