me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Squirrely and Squeeze, lookin' good

Saw both backyard residents this morning just after dawn, sitting in the big tree. (Not the one where they have their love nest.) No hanky-panky, but they stuck close, each following if the other shifted to a different branch. No chasing, no running away, no playing tag. Just companiable breakfasting, not even particularly quick movement along the branches -- for squirrels, who do seem to keep their balance better the faster they go. Both are looking chubby and well-groomed. Then she, followed by he, dove back into the nest, and if they came out again today, I didn't see it happen.
