me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

In the Knick of time

Okay, not only is it a bad pun, Clyde Frazier made it during the game last night. Not only that, but this is a basketball post. So those of youse who don't like basketball, or don't like it enough to read my babbling about it, may want to tune out and come back tomorrow.

For the rest of youse: Mike D'Antoni's gone! Huzzah! Yes, I know, everyone says he's the nicest guy in the world, and half of everyone blames Carmelo Anthony, for not fitting in with D'Antoni's system. I'm not a big fan of Melo's myself; but I don't see that D'Antoni's system has done NY much good over the last four years. One trip to the playoffs, where we got swept -- SWEPT? -- by Boston? BOSTON? I'm not impressed. D'Antoni was already halfway out the door when, his team fighting for the basement and his roster decimated, he put in the kid from Harvard down at the end of the bench because oh well why not. Seriously, he never once saw in practice what Lin had? Again, I'm not impressed. Then, a win streak, and D'Antoni got a reprieve; then, the stars all back at once, and a losing streak because they don't fit in with D'Antoni's system. Excuse me? Was it D'Antoni's system that caused Linsanity? I don't think so. D'Antoni may be a great guy, but he's not the right great guy for the Knicks. Here's hoping Mike Woodson is. Go, Coach Woodson! Let's go, Knicks!
