me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Bella sighting

Last night, following the scheduled stealthy slinking to the litterbox and the food dish, came the standard 3:00 am yowling. This got no response from me -- this is not behavior I plan to reward -- except I made a note to self to buy earplugs to get us through this transition period. After a few extra yowls, tiny nail-clicks told me Bella had gone back under the bed. Just after dawn, though, when the shades were still down but light was leaking into the room, I heard a thump from the corner. I turned over and looked just in time to see a cat-shaped object leap down off the 6' cabinet. That cabinet stands alone: she can't have climbed onto it, but must have leapt up from the floor. Pretty impressive. Even more impressive was the fact that she was out form her cave and investigating in daylight, be it ever so wan. Haven't seen her since, but am looking forward to tonight's explorations.
