me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Now that Bella has come out

...even unto occupying the living room, which she refused to do before this morning, this blog can return to its regularly scheduled topics. Such as the wildlife in the backyard. This year we have titmice, not just back here but all up and down the river park. Why? Who knows? As the leaves thin on the trees the sunlight becomes brighter and I can better see the blue jays, robins, and cardinals who hang around all winter. The squirrel population seems intact, and a new route has been developed to get around the lost branch problem. Luckily for me, it involves a particularly athletic jump visible from my window. Bella is, in fact, sitting in the window right now, watching the goings-on.

I wish you all warm Thanksgivings, filled with loved ones, good food, and no stress. Travel safely, and if you're the praying kind, pray for peace.
