me in the piazza

I'm a writer, publishing both as SJ Rozan and, with Carlos Dews, as Sam Cabot. (I'm Sam, he's Cabot.) Here you can find links to my almost-daily blog posts, including the Saturday haiku I've been doing for years. BUT the blog itself has moved to my website. If you go on over there you can subscribe and you'll never miss a post. (Miss a post! A scary thought!) Also, I'll be teaching a writing workshop in Italy this summer -- come join us!

Chasing flies

And I'm not talking baseball. Bella the cat is racing through the apartment, crashing into walls and trying to scrabble up windows, chasing a late-season fly. She probably thinks it's the red-tail hawk she was interested in the other day; it appears to be relatively the same size, seeing as how the hawk was thirty feet away, up in a tree. This is the same cat who last night, when I had people over, refused to show herself at all. One of my guests brought her a catnip mouse. She waited until he'd left the bedroom and then snuck out to drag it into her lair under the bed. I'm going to have to set up a cat cam or people will start to think I'm hallucinating.
