So I spent today devouring the Half Blood Prince. Literally. Started around 9 this morning and finished around 11pm. I can't believe I have to wait another year before the last book comes out. I've been wandering around the house for the last hour not really know what to do with myself.

I've seen the movies, but I feel they kind of depart from the books somewhat. Not sure if they could be considred the Star Wars of this generation, but each movie has been better than Dungeons and Dragons The Movie, so I really don't pooh pooh the franchise too much. There are much worse things than being just an entertaining magic movie.

I started reading HP books as a suggestion from guru's sister (years ahead of her time) but its taken this long for me to catch up. I wasn't really "hooked" until GoF and I would have to say that OotP turned out to be my favorite. I'm still digesting HBP, but it just didn't have that same things-fall-apart texture as OotP. Going over one or two fan sites, and I seem to be in the minority.

I'm still find myself pulling for Snape. I keep thinking that in the last book we will find out that he had nothing but bad choices after he took the unbreakable oath and found himself cornered by his own bad decisions. I don't think he has been a double agent for the entire series. I don't think he is VdMt's man now. I think that you could do a lot of exploration around the personal hell that is Severius Snape. I'm probably wrong. HP characters don't really have that much debth I guess.

I also was pretty sure that our new Potions professor, Slugborn, had taken a pollyjuice potion and become Dumbldore to get access to great collector objects with Harry leading him to them at the end, but alas this was not so. It's not necessarily an ending I would have proffered but it would have been more poetic I guess.

So I'm going back to reading some pratchett tonight and then maybe tomorrow I will get out of "frolicy england" for awhile and get back to some real reading.
