I am getting really anxious to get back to driving and be able to do all sorts of neat things like fight the crowds at the store where I want to buy desparately-needed groceries. The only thing that is keeping me from going totally stir-crazy is the visit from two friends of long-standing.

I've know the man since he was about fourteen and friends with YD. I've known his wife for about ten years or so. YD stood in their wedding as Best Woman.

I always enjoy their company, and to a large degree because they aren't really "company." They're more like extended family. In fact, I refer to the man as my honorary son, because he knows where the spare key is kept and he knows the refrigerator rules.

It's been a pleasant visit. They're on their way back to Detroit from a holiday visit to his family in Oklahoma. They had a bit of car trouble and are currently driving a car with Alaska license plates (it belongs to his sister), insured out of Oklahoma, and he has a Michigan driver's license. He hopes that they don't get stopped for any reason. Trying to explain that set of circumstances might prove somewhat complex.

On the home front, a PT came by today and wanted to go walking. I think my idea of walking was a bit longer than she had anticipated. I was able able to do all the reps she asked of the various exercises. Now if she'd wanted "marching," like the PT of the previous day, I might have had some trouble, but she didn't. I'm glad that I started out in fairly good shape. Someone who was not ordinarily active would have quite a time with the rehab demands.

I really need to get my annual letter out this week--I keep getting cards from people that ask what I've been doing. One letter a year should keep them happy. Maybe I can get at that tomorrow. Better yet--my goal is to get that done before Holidailies is over.
