I have officially finished inventorying the processing room. Blue tags (half sheets of paper) adorn the boxes on the shelves.

So now I am processing another collection. I did the preliminary inventory and discovered a bazillion recipes. And journals that listed everything served every day for lots and lots of years. When this person died she had way more than 500 cookbooks, according to a list that came with the collection.

Unfortunately, the archivist wasn't around when I started the processing--I need to find out just what she wants done with the notebooks full of recipes clipped from newspapers and magazines--many of which are deteriorated. I left her a note and one of the notebooks. Oh yeah--and there are lots and lots of recipes that are just sitting around--haven't been placed in notebooks.

Did I mention that she put a date on each recipe when she served it?

But--I finished the processing room inventory.

When I went upstairs to copy the cookbook lists I was given a bottle of wine--it was from Christmas. How about that as a workplace "perk!"

I'm staying home tomorrow and really need to do some cleaning. But first I have to empty the vacuum so there's somewhere for the dirt and cat hair etc. to go. I should also do some outside work. etc. etc. etc.

I'm currently finishing up Baghdad Burning II. It is quite intense and I can take just so much of it at a time.

I have the two (autographed) Laura Joh Rowland books I got for Christmas, plus two about/by women in Afghanistan waiting for me. And two or three mind candy books, just to add to the mix. Who cares what's on TV? I have plenty to read. Besides, there's the current geek book, which is all about archiving--theory and practise. That's what I read when I'm eating lunch.

I think the Tulane students start classes a week from today. The campus will be a lot livelier then--and the parking more challenging.

But I've finished the processing room inventory.
