The weather map this morning did not look particularly encouraging--lots of clouds.

The forecast did not sound particularly encouraging--heavy thunderstorms.

Soooo . . . even though it wasn't raining when I got to work, I decided to take an umbrella with me that is significantly larger than the one I keep in my bag, all folded up to less than six inches long.

And the umbrella magic worked. I could see people walking about with open umbrellas most of the day, but when it was time for me to leave, the magic properties of my large umbrella kicked into gear and I didn't have to open it while walking to my car. Simply having it with me kept the rain away.

Today our Fearless Leader tied up traffic majorly about going home time. Luckily, it was not on the route I take. You would not believe how many vehicles it takes to get a president from point A to point B. I think he was looking at a school today. (I also think I wrote a while back about the 300 students on a waiting list for public school.) Too bad it wasn't Thurgood Marshall Middle School he looked at. That's right on Canal Street at the cemeteries end, and there is no sign of life there at all. (At the school, as well as the cemeteries.)

For the next month I'll keep the bright green of the Irish. An Irish revolutionary--Wolfe Tone--is one of my late husband's ancestors. And I think there's some Scotch/Irish on my mother's side.

That's it for today.
