Back during one of our brief cold snaps, the day came when I had to scrape frost off my windshield. And a chip of it got into my jacket pocket. My phone was also in there, but it seemed fine at the time--and it was a really small amount of frost that got in there.

Then it began acting strange--sometimes making unusual noises from my pocket. (Fortunately these noises were of the musical variety.)

Today it gave up. I could use it if it was hooked up to a charger, but by the time I got home today even that wasn't working right. So, I stopped at the Verizon store and told them the long story. They checked the battery and it was wet. They apologized for the price of a battery and the fact that I couldn't just get an upgrade (that took pictures) until July 10. They informed me it was out of warranty. But then the guy who appeared to be in charge said forget about that, and all I needed to pay for was a new battery--which was installed in a new phone.

They transferred my directory from one phone to the other, but not my speed dials, so I have to try to figure those out.

The first thing I did, however, was to get back my ringtone ("When the Saints . . . ") and then see if I could find the wallpaper I'd had before. I can't remember what it was, but I haven't seen anything that looks familiar, so for the time being I'm using a green swirly pattern.

I think there are probably a few other little changes, but the important thing is that it now works.

Other than that, it was another IUD.
