I can't think of anything significant that I did today--at least so far. And I don't see any prospects for that to change.

This morning was minor puttering around. This afternoon I continued reading A Mind of Its Own. It's really quite interesting and attempts to explain some historical racial attitudes.

Just now I wondered about the verb "putter." I am geek enough to keep a large dictionary next to the computer (and there's another one where I usually read) so I looked it up. There's put-ter, pronounced "POO-ter" and it's a person or thing who puts. Next comes the golf term noun.

Finally, the verb, which means "to busy oneself or proceed in a trifling, ineffective, or aimless way; dawdle." And it is a variation on POTTER, which is then defined as a variation of "putter." (Don't you just love a dictionary?)

I acquired a bruise on my thigh, just above the knee, when a certain reddish/blonde male cat jumped on me. Is that Pet Abuse? He is such a satisfactory cat--once we have established that he is too heavy to stand with 99% of his weight on his front paws which are on me.

And my girls regard the bends in my body when I am asleep at night as ideal "nests."

Maybe tomorrow I'll do some more yard work.
