I had "planned" to do yard work this early evening, from about 6 PM till dark.

But the sky has been darkening and a few sprinkle have fallen already.

Awww Darn!

So instead I shall probably finish the latest Susan Wittig Albert book I started a day or so ago, and which I came close to finishing this afternoon at PJ's. She was once Dean at Newcomb College. I probably met her at some point. (Newcomb used to be the Arts and Sciences college for women at Tulane University. Long, long, story there, and it involves a lot of money.)

"Made groceries" this morning, then filled up my gas tank. It was "only" $2.75/gal. at Sam's. I've seen it as high as $2.95 other places in town.

Incidentally, "making groceries" is the local expression for shopping, and it comes from the French verb faire, to make or to do or go.

And if you're going to visit your mother, you're "going by yo' mama's."

I had a midnight visitor again last night, who was bound and determined to get into the metal trash can with the dry cat food. He(?) managed to move the can about three feet, but couldn't get in. I looked outside and he gave me a very dirty look. I shall try to remember to put some dry food out before I go to bed. We can't have raccoons starving in the yard.

To avoid the afternoon rain, I have resolved to do yard work first thing tomorrow morning. To avoid doing the yard work I'll have to come up with another excuse, I guess.
