And as of tomorrow we are officially in hurricane season. And the levee repairs aren't done. And lots of people still haven't been able (for one reason or another) to get back into their homes.

I just had a political survey telephone call. Mostly it was about Louisiana politics, although there were a few national questions thrown in. When it came to satisfaction (or lack of same) with the current state leaders who are running again it got almost funny. I guess if a LA politican hasn't been indicted, he or she must be halfway decent. In the gubernatorial race the leader is a current Congressional Representative--the one whose wife was in a history class of mine back in the early 90s. His main opponent seems to be the State Senator who represents most of the Slidell area (except my part) and recently changed his party registration from R to D. Several years ago he went the other way. There were several questions about our current State Treasurer. I as much as said that if he hadn't been indicted (yet) he must be okay. The interviewer spoke with a distinct non-American accent and was laughing by the time she got done with me. I got the impression that she was an "offshore" worker. (And I also got the impression that some interviewees had been rude because of her mildly accented speech.)

Today was incredibly quiet at work. The only visitor was a maintenance man who came to paint a new door. He looked at the rather bad job of mounting it and just shook his head. At least it's not out in front.

I think the summer session starts next week.

I plan on going in tomorrow, if for nothing else than to cover the area. However, I am finally making sense of the Paulette boxes related to her run for Mayor and I should be able to get those in next-to-final shape tomorrow.

Last night I heard a gentle thud as the lid came off the ice chest. And then I heard little animal sounds. I wonder if there were two or more critters? The whatever should be happy tonight--I discovered that the cats had barely touched yesterday's wet food, so I nput it outside. Either Lady will eat it, or something else will.

Tomorrow starts the month the kids always hated, esp. YD. OD has a birthday in June, and so do I. And her grandparents on her father's side. Plus there was Father's Day and our wedding anniversary.

And now there is OGD.

So, bye-bye May and hello June.

(darn but that is really corny!)
