Afternoon "showers" are part of a coastal Louisiana summer. Except that "showers" isn't quite the term to describe some of the thunderstorms--complete with road-flooding rain--that lower the afternoon temperature while raising the humidity so that the end result is little change comfortwise.

But all in all, I don't find the summers all that bad--as long as the torrential downpours don't occur while I am commuting.

There was a bit of rain early this morning, but none on my drive in. There was a little during the day, but it didn't start looking nasty till I was about to leave. Luckily, the showers and I were not on intersecting paths.

It's thunder-grumbling now and the little cat seems to be quite happy with her new "parking place." She has found the stove. She also likes the top of the refrigerator, but it's not as roomy as the stove.

When I came home this afternoon she was on the top fence rail (about 5' up) watching for me. She is capable of being very cute. But she's learned that when I come down that road, supper won't be far behind. Cupboard love.

Time to read to the background of TV reruns.
