That's because I worked today, and I am now in the computer room (duh) which has an AC unit.

Were it not for the just-ordered photo holders, I would have completed the whole Cheron project. I turned over a copy of the inventory of each carton--all ten of them--to the archivist and this afternoon started on another batch of material.

The heavens are making some sounds that suggest a bit of a cool-down is imminent. I checked the weather radar and something IS headed this way, but it doesn't appear to be very large. I hope it's enough to take the edge off the heat.

Tomorrow my windshield gets repaired. I think I'll miss the little bird that is the result of a ding. That is tentatively scheduled for 10 AM. I don't think there's time for me to do a batch of weed-pulling before the repair person gets here--not if I want to shower the sweat off also.

(I can talk myself out of things pretty easily.)

I was a bit later than usual getting home this afternoon and was greeted by a watchcat in the middle of the driveway. She knows the routine, and I should (according to her) have been home about 30 minutes earlier. Sorry Lady, but I had to stop at the bank, and there is always a line there.

The people at work are busy getting things ready "in case." I've filled out my sheet with names and phone numbers, and in return I've gotten the phone numbers (and e-mails) for the People In Charge. Today the Curator of Books and Records (the archivist) was deep in a conversation with one of the maintenance people about the practicality of using duct-tape-backed velcro for something or other.

One good thing about the collection I'm just starting on--it did NOT get flooded.

And now for an exciting evening of watching TV, reading, and/or doing Cross Sums puzzles--now known as kakuro.
