(It's really Rainy Days and Mondays, isn't it?)

Anyway, today was Sunday and it was rainy. I got off to an early enought start that I finished makin' groceries (and getting gas) before the rain started. My greatest thrill in life is definitely NOT pumping gas with thunder in the distance, but the sky was just beginning to darken and anyway my tank doesn't take very long to fill.

I got home and most of the groceries inside before it started to rain. There's still a bag of cat food and a six-pack (of SlimFast) out in the car, but they don't require refrigeration (immediately) and can wait till I feel like bringing them in.

It rained most of the afternoon, and the rain had a soporific effect on me. I think I napped almost two hours. The cats also napped. Lady found a pile of dirty clothes near the washer and spent the morning and half the afternoon sleeping there. I guess the human smells make it extra comfortable. Fabian napped on me.

I noticed yesterday that my new crepe myrtle is blooming happily!! Next time I'm doing yard work I'll clear some of the stuff from around it.

Evidently the boys weren't that thrilled by pulling weeds--I haven't heard from again.

Well, the back injection has me feeling and moving a lot better. I'll just keep at it bit by bit. From past experience I know I'll get there eventually. Those three mornings I spent about an hour working the entry side yard resulted in a yard that pleases me. (And I'm hoping the rain is just what the flower seeds need.)

I'm working tomorrow, so I can't read till midnight, like I did last night. Well, I could, but it would make getting up about 6 a bit difficult. I finished up Cabinet of Curiosities. Let's just say I don't recommend it as bedtime reading. But the book was excellent, and this afternoon I ordered the next one with Pendergast in it.

My current "geek" reading is Margaret Mead's book from her 1930s field work.

My next "mind candy" book will be one a friend just sent me.

And now back to reading with TV in the background.
