Or so it seems. I wasn't paying attention to the weather report this evening. However, bodily feelings tell me that it is (was) hot today. Intellicast shows the current temperature at 93, with a "feels like" of about 105.

Work was more digging and sorting in the world of art therapy and mandalas. As I've said before, it's quite interesting, and since I'm not punching a time clock I can take my time and read things that pique my curiosity.

There is a woman who comes to the library to prepare for some kind of an exam. She works at Tulane downtown and knows who my orthopedist is. At any rate, we got to chatting yesterday at lunch and she was talking about the hard time women physicians have (had? I doubt it) in training.

Today she brought in a book about women surgeons and what they go through. I'm looking forward to reading it.

The flower lady giving birth (a life-sized art piece) has been moved to some distant place. She's been shoved aside for ordinary portraits of Significant People--two of which are men. There are also pictures of a couple of little girls. (Maybe the flower lady had twins?)

School will be starting soon, and mamas and papas will be really looking over where their money kids will be. The gardeners are putting fresh pine straw on the gardens. The street near me has been dug up to repair underground drainage that was dysfunctional when I was a student (late 80s, early 90s) but was exacerbated big time by Katrina.

After the Minneapolis bridge disaster our local paper pointed out four bridges (on U.S. Highways) in the N.O. area that have worse ratings than that one. Needless to say, the US 11 bridge was on that list. Come on--it turns 80 next year and a lot of traffic for the month or so that I-10 was totally shut down went over it. Fortunately, Weights and Measures enforcers were pretty good about keeping the big trucks off it. And they're still out there on the westbound part of I-10 stopping overweight trucks. (The westbound part of the bridge over Lake Pontchartrain has a bunch of temporary patches. It gets inspected almost daily, and is partially closed several nights a week so things can be tightened up. Thank you but I'll take my chances on the low-traffic bridge that's been around for 79 years.)

I think tomorrow will be more of the same, weatherwise. Maybe it will rain a bit to lower the temperture and raise the humidity.
