Crossing fingers that I will, indeed, find an on-campus parking spot tomorrow morning. Xavier is no problem--I get there before 7:15 and I have a choice of just about anywhere I want. But I've talked about Tulane before. My "lifetime" blue tag should do it, though, at the relatively late hour of roughly 10 AM. Not only are there two handicapped spots near my building, but there are 4 - 6 more down the road by the library.

I'm all set for my students--more lecture on Egypt, preceded by another vocab quiz. I think there won't be as many abysmal grades on this one--those who got them on #1 will (perhaps) be better prepared. This one has some of those sound-alikes: they're, there, their; accept, except. I think that's it for this quiz, but there are more homophones on future vocab sets.

Today was just another IUD. Last night the raccoon wasn't content with the food I'd put in the ice chest, but dragged the metal trash can onto the lawn. Then he worked on the bungee cord for a good ten minutes before getting the lid off and obtaining access to the partly full bag. He was very polite and neat--he unrolled the top (which had already been unsealed) to get at the food inside.

At one point, I turned on the outside light to get a look at him, and he just stared at me. No fear--of course I speak to him in nice tones, and the food keeps appearing. I wonder if it is a he or a she. If the latter, I'll probably find out next spring.

Grocery shopping today yielded a new cane. I have a black one and a brown one, and I try to coordinate the cane with the outfit. But this morning I spotted a pretty swirly blue one for just $2 more than the "ordinary" canes. If I'm going to use one, I might as well get pretty ones.

The coming week should be the first of a long string of "normal" ones, with respect to my various activities. I rather like predictability in my life, but not to a crashingly boring extent.
