Catching Up

I think (hope) I've finally caught up with myself and settled into my new schedule. Not trying to work at Newcomb afternoons when I've been at Xavier in the morning seems to be the key.

This afternoon I went to PJ's and caught up with back grading (things like exam make-ups) and entering grades into my grade book. All that's left to grade are their "paperlets." Some people don't seem to have gotten the concept (or listened) of a short paper. It's NOT something in your own handwriting on a piece of notebook paper. I'll soon see just how they did. That's my weekend academic project.

One the professors in the department prefers teaching late afternoons and usually arrives about 10 AM. This presents major problems relating to parking. But he has observed my "schedule" habits, not to mention the fact that arriving about 7 AM means I have a really prime parking place. He (and I) have come up with a "plan." If he doesn't find a spot, and he sees my car, he calls me on my cell, then idles in the "lurking" place until I appear and drive away. It works quite nicely. Since I've quit trying to do Newcomb on Xavier days I can well afford to hang around Xavier till about 10--thus insuring that Shamsul will have a parking place.

Xavier is not exactly in the best neighborhood in the city. It's got a good secure campus, and a well-trained police force, and neighborhood crime almost never intrudes. But I would not be at all interested in parking very far off-campus.

This week has gone by really quickly--I have to keep reminding myself that there is a weekend ahead. Unfortunately, there is always more than I care to do needing doing, but isn't that the way it always is?
