This has been a somewhat mixed-up week. Tuesday turned out to be "lost" because I stayed at home due to a heavy rain threat.

But today is Friday, and once again my students had an exam. And about half the class showed up. Today is Drop Day, so by Monday I should know how many class members I theoretically have. As of 9 AM this morning I still had 29. I'll check again tomorrow.

Gotta love the internet age--I can log in to the Xavier data base from home (provided I remember the right passwords) and see my class list. I can post midterm and final grades from home, and I can get all sorts of info about each of the students--their schedules, majors, addresses, expected graduation date, and other stuff.

Little by little I'm getting to know some of the students--the ones who stop by my office for whatever reason.

This weekend I not only have grading to do, but I need to change the class website pages from the Greece unit to the Rome unit. I've got that down to a few clicks of the mouse.

When I got back home this morning (about 11:30) I had some lunch, then decided to take a short nap. Well, the giant cat joined me, and it was almost 4 PM when I woke. I guess my body needed the sleep.

The giant cat has become EXTREMELY friendly since it turned a bit cooler. It's not enough to camp out on a floor register--better to stretch out alongside a human body. And at night (now that it's cooler) at least one of the others also wants to share body heat. That's fine with me.

Friday has arrived rather quickly this week--I haven't really thought much about what needs doing over the weekend, besides grading. A lot needs doing, so it's a matter of prioritizing.

For now, I'll enjoy the warm house and the cuddly cats.
