Months, of course.

Today was a Newcomb day and I continued with the Choice person's vast (and comprehensive) files. I read probably a dozen or so laws that went to the Louisiana legislature. Some were adopted, some were amended, and some didn't pass. Most of what I processed today is 1989 - 1992. I'm getting so I (almost) know which senators and representatives take which positions.

And I do not know what the current laws re: abortion are. At one point there was pressure to have an "absolutely never--even if pregnancy kills the mother or is the result of rape" law. I was glad to see that a Catholic lawyer and House member (with whom I'm acqainted) is not radical in that department.

This time of year driving into the city at the crack of dawn (or slightly before) is really neat. The direction is generally southishy. The sun first lightens the sky to my left and slightly behind me. As I continue in a more westerly direction the sky goes from gray to a pearly rose. If my timing is right, I top the High Rise about the time I can distinguish buildings, and all the lights of the city are twinkling against a dark blue backdrop. On low humidity (high pressure front) days it's like topping a hill and finding a sort of fairyland on the other side. The bridges that cross the Mississippi look like diamond necklaces. One doesn't get the same effect heading westward near evening.

Tomorrow is a Xavier day and I need to try to finish grading some exams. I just got started on the Second Punic War on Wednesday, and I've got that sequence/lecture down pat, so there is essentially no prep work for that lecture.

Nights have cooled to the point where my little likes-to-be-outside cat wants to have human heat at night. She's so small (about 8 lbs.) that I barely notice her on top of me.

And now back to the grading.
