I just finished updating the website for my students. I even have the calendar all the way to their final! I have scheduled next Monday as the due date for a paperlet. That means anybody skipping those two days of classes Thanksgiving week had better get at it. Late papers will NOT be accepted. However, I am not totally heartless--I will accept papers as attachments to e-mails, as long as they are sent before midnight of the day due.

The football game was not a happy one. Let's just say that I was hard on people (I won't call them students) who said the Eastern Roman (Byzantine) Empire ended when Justinian died of the plague. They did not get much mercy. (Yes, Eric, I can see you cringing at that.)

I had to pick up some prescriptions this afternoon, so after I'd finished the grading I did just that, then stopped at a newly opened grocery store to check it out. The store began as Albertson's, then was bought up by Sav-A-Center, which recently closed its stores in the area. The new purchaser of some of the former Sav-A-Centers is a local upscale store. Since the el-cheapo Sav-A-Lot (by where Winn Dixie used to be) seems to have been swallowed up by the floods, and I boycott stores that track your purchases (like Sav-a-Center), the only nearby, directly on-the-way-home store is now this local one. It is definitely upscale, but this evening my supper was Chinese dumplings, and I got some nice large satsumas. I'll be back there again for little stuff.

So, I think I am about ready for the upcoming week, and not too behind on work. I still have a batch of paperlets to grade, and I have promised myself they WILL be returned by Friday.

So far there doesn't seem to be a need for me in the spring, but one never knows. Jonathan (dept. chair) knows I'm available on relatively short notice.

I do NOT wish to discuss this afternoon's football game. The next two games are away games. It's three weeks till the next home game.

I shall veg out with mindless TV this evening. Well, maybe I'll start a new mind candy book. But whatever I do will not require excessive mental effort.
