means, when you are a cat, that it's time to burrow under an afghan. It's beside the point that the cat is question has enough "insulation" to keep him warm in Alaska.

It also means that I will probably have at least two cats sleeping on me tonight. That's fine--feline basal temperature is about two degrees (F) higher than human. I'm the winner in that one.

I may not be able to move in the morning, having been pinned in one position all night, but at least I'll be warm.

And tomorrow morning will be a very early one. It's exam make-up morning--and I do these at 0630. At least I'll be back home well before lunch and can finish my night's sleep with a long nap. (Probably with at least one cat on me--they are quite opportunistic.)

My immediate task, however, is getting the makeup exams ready. I forgot to bring home my gradebook, so I don't know who is scheduled for what, but I have the unused copies of the untaken exams at work and I will simply eliminate choices from them.

One student will not be taking her exam--she e-mailed me that she'd been in a car wreck and was a bit shaken up. She's one of my students who is there almost every day--and on time. I haven't checked, but I'd be willing to bet she's a pharmacy student. Xavier has one of the two pharmacy schools in the state (the other is in northern LA and is a state college) and significant numbers of the Vietnamese students (at Xavier) are pharmacy majors.

Saturday is election day (again.) It's the runoff election for state offices. There are several positions where I don't think anything about either of the candidates. There are plenty of signs still up, but I know some of them are for city of Slidell posts.

And in a few weeks the series of elections will begin to elect a replacement for the incoming Governor's House seat.

I don't want to even try to count how many elections there will be this year.

Giant cat has decided that he needs a bath to get his stripes all properly aligned before he burrows under the afghan. Considering his size, that bath will take him quite a while.
