Dodged the Rain!

Today's weather forecast suggested that the proper meteorological term for the upcoming day was yucky. It was foggy crossing the lake, but fairly clear the rest of the way into the city. And I found a great parking spot on one of the higher parts of the parking area.

I took one of my large umbrellas in with me. (The umbrella I carry in my should pack is extremely small and barely shades my head.)

As a result I didn't get rained on at all. It rained for a fair amount of time this morning, but when I was outside it was dry. There was a little rain on the way home, but it barely merited windshield wipers.

It was a very quiet day at the library. The librarian was at a conference so I had the whole thing to myself.

One man came in to work and stayed till about 2 PM. That was about it.

I got a lot done on the new files, but I have a loooong way to go. At the moment I'm sorting her voluminous personal correspondence by year. Next I'll get it in more or less chronological order.

This 17 yr. old wrote a LOT of letters, both to her friends back in Islip when she was in South America, and then to her Bolivian friends when she returned home. The letters help to form a picture of teenage life in the early 70s.

{In the early 70s I was tending two young children. In 1976 we moved from Louisiana to Florida for the moon launches.}

I must be living right, because the final rain of the afternoon followed me home. It was almost a tie--it had just begun to sprinkle about the time I drove into my driveway.

Tomorrow will be a "home" day--or rather, a day when I don't cross the lake. I've got plenty to do in the house and around the yard, not to mention reading etc. (etc.= nap)

Because today was my last work day of the week, I get (in effect) TWO Saturdays this week.
